[openbox] How to get to the bottom of an Openbox crash?

Hi all,

I'm running Openbox 3.6.1 on Ubuntu 17.10.

I suspended my computer last night (with the systemctl suspend command)
and when I woke it up this morning my Openbox session was gone. I was
greeted with GDM and had to login again, start a new session.
Normally suspend and resume works fine: my Openbox session continues.
And it has worked fine when I tested it since the incident too.
I don't know if it was Openbox or something else (X Windows?) that
crashed. Just wondering what I could do, either now or before or after
the next time this happens, to get to the bottom of what happened /
what crashed?
I've looked through what I could find in /var/log and in the Gnome Logs
app and nothing has been very enlightening. I did find a "Fatal Server
Error" from gdm-x-session in /var/log/syslog.1 around the time of waking
from suspend, but it doesn't tell me much:

(Nothing in theĀ /home/seanh/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.0.log file that it
says to look in seems interesting.)
