in the end, the italian stuff comes from .desktop files in 
/usr/share/applications - you should check that, too.
maybe one of the perl modules working for obmenu-generator thinks that 
your system is italian.

so nothing else is italian? only this pipemenu? that's the weirdest part.

maybe you mis-spelled your locale?
