Smoothly Resize Terminals

Hi openbox at icculus.org,

Is it possible to deactivate the resizing by character cells on
terminals and such?  I want terminals to behave like other windows
in this aspect.

When you maximize terminal windows, openbox pads the borders so they
completely fill the screen. Thats basically what I want, so I can have
a bunch of them with no borders in between, like you know it from tiling
window managers - and, if possible, a quick way to switch between both modes.

Any ideas or hints?
