That's what I was thinking, that they are children of windows on other
desktops.  This, to me, seems rather braindead; If I open a dialog
from a window, I'd generally expect that dialog to be a child of the
window from which it was opened.

I fiddled with xwininfo and xprop to no avail to figure out the
hierarchy of windows in the case of both Pidgin and gaim.  It's mostly
gibberish to me so I await you all to make sense of it.  ;-)
