I'd like to chime in with my personal thanks! now I can start
tweaking my photo retouching skills!

what works: open an image, maximize window - palettes will
stay on top, great! the tab key can be used to conveniently
show/hide them. do some work on the image, keyboard shortcuts
help a lot, I have got two hands ;) the only missing feature
now is a "hand" tool in gimp to scroll/drag the canvas.

one inconvenience: the utility windows seem to be tied to the
window that was opened first. to reproduce: start the gimp,
open an image, open another one, make this one fullscreen, tab
away the dialogs, try to get them back and fail.

does the window manager protocol even have support to get that
right? if so, whom should I bug?

thank you for your attention.

Peter

how would you then type eg. a code in the color picker or
name a level? would that work?
