   Of course, maximise doesn't always.

   I apologise if I'm hijacking this thread, but I was, out of interest,
trying to determine the logic/standard for screen usage when 'panels'
are present; when these are on screen, 'maximise' takes them into
account and doesn't obscure them, which is usually what you'd want.

   Proper 'full-screen' would ignore panels, and is arguably the
province of the app., not the WM.

   And now I've said that, Mikael's pointed out an option in OB to do
just that :-)

   As to the logic, I found a 'work area' prop. (on the root window)
that seems to take account of my bottom full-width gnome panel, but OB
also seems to be aware (well, it /is/ managing them!) of a top-left and
top-right pair of mini-panels I have.

   Unfortunately, it seems to merge them into one as far as maximise
height is concerned, as when I have a vim window and vertically-maximise
it, it doesn't hit the top of the screen, even though there's room:

+--+-----+--+      +--+-----+--+
+--+     +--+      +--+     +--+
|           |      |    +-+    |
|    +-+    |  =>  |    | |    |
|    +-+    |      |    | |    |
|           |      |    +-+    |
+-----------+      +-----------+
+-----------+      +-----------+

</hijack>
