Extended busy cursor when launching certain apps from konqueror

When launching certain applications, such as opening an .avi movie with xine
or gmplayer, from konqueror file manager under Openbox 3.2-4 the cursor when
hovered over the titlebar remains stuck on the busy cursor for about 30
seconds.  I have turned off all KDE settings for cursor notification.
