Sorry to reply to my own post, but I had it backwards. It's just cmake 
not matching the version of gpsd I have. Dumb, and don't know why it 
took me so long. Now I just have to figure out how to force it to define 
HAVE_GPS_V3 using cmake. Sorry to bother. Useable recipe is coming.
