How to make this run as a daemon

In my quest to ask the most "n00b" question, how do you make MOHAA:SH run as
a daemon, or at least daemon-like?

I want it to load at boot and run in the background...or at least in a
hidden SCREEN.

I've already got it to change users with SU - <user> -c
/usr/mohaa/start_mohaa.sh (or some similar command).

However, when I have this script start in rc2.d, it fires up before the OS
has finished booting....to get to a local login, I have to quit the game.
