Underlying OS RE: Server Performance

Here's a question, that I don't know if it has been raised with
spearhead, yet, in regards to performance, but:
 
What flavor of *nix are people running the latest (BETA1) under, and
kernel, etc?
 
I'm personally using Slackware 8.0 w/ updates for EXT3 and kernel
updated to 2.4.18 with minor changes removing unnecessary items.
