Also sometimes they way they do things or the way the different distros
install stuff do make a huge difference...a good example is I have bene
running a Counter-Strike server and their is an anti-cheat out for it. This
anti-cheat won't work right with Redhat right now, but works fine with
Mandrake and Debian becasue of the way they have things installed I
guess...so yes different distros are better than others 'out of the
box'.....just my 2 cents...been a gaming admin now for 7 years....

This is more of a general question rather than a mohaa specific quesiton
but i am sure its one that i could get a decent answer from the readers of
this list.
I am rather new to linux but am wondering if different distributions offer
different performance aspects to gaming servers.
Is red hat better than suse or mandrake in one way but not as good in
others etc.
Or is it a matter of personal choice what distribution you run as they all
offer the same functionalty and performance features.

Cheers,
Richard.
