Could someone that's willing to install a kernel module on their server
do
me a favor?

Go install Oprofile (http://oprofile.sf.net/) and take a few
minutes of profiling when the server is pretty full. Do not profile
during
a mapchange (since this REALLY skews the results).

This is a pain to do, but I'm not seeing a significant processing
difference between MOHAA and Spearhead on my system...no doubt the
problem
is scaling with more players, which I can't supply here.

Anyone willing?
