A couple of thoughts

Finally. Note that if we do it properly, this can also be a
replacement for README.xml. Personally, I find a DTD with comments in
it at least as much, if not more, use than a README file that will
[probably] always be out of date. Plus, that way we can force people
to complete the documentation up to date.

Have we considered choice of library? I was talking to Stephane about
this, and I'm not entirely certain that something as heavyweight as
libxml is really needed. expat, for example, is the father of all the
XML implementations out there, and is still under development. It's
very small/lightweight compared with the GNOME libraries.

Mod: -1, flamebait
I know I may come under fire, but have we considered using guile [or
some other lisp variant] as the scripting language? Last I checked, it was
the FSF choice of embedding scripting langauges.
Suffers from a great many problems, not the least of which is the
garagegames guy [for example] who dislikes bash will probably LOATHE it,
but just a thought.
Disclaimer: No, I've not actually used guile, so I don't know...

At this point, someone will tell me that it already supports it, but I
really needed support for symlink farming in my unrealI installer, /a la/
