patch for rh8 menuitems

Hey all, here's a patch that contains some hacks I made to get loki setup 
menuitems to install in red hat 8.  Not sure if this should go in cvs, since 
I haven't tested it on non rh8 systems.  But its a good reference for anyone 
who has the misfortune of needing to install menuitems in that distro.
