Ok, I've finally done something to this lgfaq.txt exists and is being worked on, the gameplan is in cvs/test/gameplan, along with whatever I'm working on at the moment. -- -zakk DUDE TH%T MADE ME LA{UGH SO HARD I SPL:ORTED MILK OU(T MY NOSE AND [B[B[B THE KEYBO{RD zakk at timedoctor.org From zakk at timedoctor.org Tue May 7 03:03:47 2002 From: zakk at timedoctor.org (zakk) Date: 07 May 2002 03:03:47 -0400 Subject: xmlphpvisualbasicfaq Message-ID: <1020755028.22994.1.camel@TARDIS> Treke went ahead and one uppped me, http://www.icculus.org/lgfaq/test/xml/faq.php -- -zakk DUDE TH%T MADE ME LA{UGH SO HARD I SPL:ORTED MILK OU(T MY NOSE AND [B[B[B THE KEYBO{RD zakk at timedoctor.org From icculus at clutteredmind.org Tue May 7 03:43:43 2002 From: icculus at clutteredmind.org (Ryan C. Notes: 1) Needs fields for "things to which this applies". Example: Is Chunky annoyed at outrage? Blaggle Descent,Joystick The php then needs a search. Don't know how you're parsing it, haven't looked at your code. Can't even remember what model PHP used... The word "descent" is multi-lingual when it's the name of the game. For such functionality, perhaps we need policies like "leave out the number of the game, eg, Descent instead of Descent3, and then rip out the numbers when doing a query" 2) Character sets. I've had really bad experiences with XML being blown out of the water in the past [most notably, IE has a bit of a screaming hissy fit sometimes]. My terminal doesn't do foreign characters in the XML there, so I've no idea what's going on for half of the screen anyways... Just a couple of ideas. Why try to make the php intelligent? Surely a dumb "does the author say this is english? then show it to the english guy" would be easier? Or is that what you mean? And as far as it goes, if you just heave out the numbers altogether for internal searching, then it removes a whole world of hurt... Although I'm not sure if that's entirely wholesome for when someone explicitly asks for quake3... blaggle. My brain hurts. Suggestions? Should we put this one back? Should we put up a redirect? The lokigames.com domain is hosting their FAQs again, at Scott's demand^Wrequest. At worst, redirect back to them. Do we have comparable/better information at this point? I'd be for continuing to point to a lesser live source than a dead one that's better. Wherever the final destination is, TTimo can change the link easily enough at our request, so there shouldn't be a need to redirect. --ryan. After checking, it's not there. faqs.lokigames.com/q3faq.html doesn't exist. So, I'm going to upload the old copy to our server for now, if I can find it. -- -zakk zakk at timedoctor.org
