that would be relevant to 4-view mode only I suppose
4-view is a silly configuration for mapping anyway. makes sense if you are 
modelling, but doesn't if you are doing world editing.

if we have to refresh the 4 views on each zoom, it will be a bit slower than 
only 1 view. it should be a pref item anyway, so it doesn't matter. if someone 
wants to submit a patch for this, I'm fine with it
