Didn't work.  Even updating to the current CVS version didn't help.  In
fact it's worse since the cursor no longer shows up in the game (may be
a config problem).  If I get any more ideas of things to try I'll do
them but it's not going to be for a while.  Probably not what you want
to hear, but it may be time for a new graphics card.
