Nope, quite different actually:
P4 2.4 1Gb RAM, geforce2 gts
kernel 2.4.21-pre5-ac3
glibc-2.3.2

Have you tried other resolutions?
When I changed to 800x600 those slowdowns stopped, now there is just this
audio/video synch problem remaining. Not that much annoying, but it's there.
