Freespace 1 -- IT LIVES!

Never did post this but I played my first FS1 mission on Linux Friday
night. Yippee! I would say it's about 96% done and most of that 4% is
only UI layout problems. Basic rundown:

- the option screen looks right but a few of the controls don't work yet
- the HUD config is fscked but doesn't crash; it's not supposed to have
sliders for RGB but the slider controls make up a large portion of
hudconfig and I don't want to tackle that yet
- every time I start to layout the controls in hudconfig I start to cry
(there's a bazillion of them)
- the pilot select screen still has some non-working buttons but you can
create a pilot and the hotkey for Select (Enter) works fine.
- in the ship and weapon selectors the animations loop at the wrong
place, haven't figured this out yet
- still haven't figured out the parse solution on that comment block in
ships.tbl
- finished with the tables I had to modify and will have to distribute,
about 5, and now have to go through and take out the ones that aren't
needed (lightning.tbl for ex.)
- I think I'm going to call the first release "Where are all the damn
Asteroids!"

Other things that don't work in FS1 or FS2:
- Most sounds don't play but looking in some of the audio stuff it
doesn't have the ability to do so yet
- My joystick (Wingman Force) works fine in Descent3 and in jstest but
the HAT and throttle control don't work. The HAT is seen only as button
10 and the throttle is seen as a button not a slider

Question of the Day:

Is it a good idea the restrict the resolution in the FS1 build to
640x480 (I don't want to put in that many ifdefs) or just leave as a
warning not to change the config? If it is started in 1024x768 it will
either segfault or look screwy and then segfault. ;-)
