Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated.

2009/2/11 Ben <fh-list@3fl.net>

You'll pretty much always hit CPU limitations before memory becomes an issue. Unless the box is doing something else that consumes memory other than the basic OS, 2Gb of RAM should be plenty. But you should be able to get 4 servers with that CPU power easily.

Possibly. What kind of IO will you be using?

I would just add one server every few days and monitor sar, mpstat, etc.

If you start getting below 20% CPU idle, hit too much swap memory, or have a high # via iostat, it's probably worth it to stop adding servers and removing one or two.

If you use Linux be sure to install the sysstat package -- available via most popular distros.

Also, you'll want to use some kind of scripting system to restart servers every 24 hours and archive log files.

Hope this helps. :)
Hi, just wondering if somebody here could give a rough estimate
of how many servers i would be able to run on a Dual core X3065
(2.33Ghz) dedi with 2gig of ram. looking at hosting a few 32
player servers, just curious how many i could run safely on that
machine.

Thanks.
