Fedora 5 is more like a windows OS than any other, and has "too many" features that clog it down for server work. It is also not particularly stable.. remember that Fedora is a community build and so the longer something has been out the more work and testing has gone into it.

<div>Think you have the fed numbering mixed, fed 5 is latest cutting edge and least stable in essence. Centos is a good stable dist following the same redhat lineage but stable (basically built from redhat enterprise sources, just no redhat badging).

<p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">I use Fed 4 on all my installations, and any of the red-hat distros are probably the best for running gaming servers.. its also user friendly so you should be ok if you are easing yourself in. If you want to really get in deep with unix get Fedora 2, it's brilliant for things like apache :)
