Guess it's a bug. I checked and mine does the same thing.

Doesn't seem to make any difference.

I tried just running

 ./cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 1

This make no difference. Setting the value to anyting illegal (e.g. 5)
produces the folllowing:

execing language.cfg from disk

'5' is not a valid value for dvar 'dedicated'

Domain is one of the following:

   0: listen server

   1: dedicated LAN server

   2: dedicated internet server

dedicated is read only.

I looks like the value is being read, just ignored.

Btw, I check the value by running "dedicated" (without quotes) in the
console:

dedicated

"dedicated" is: "dedicated internet server^7" default: "dedicated
internet server^7"

Domain is one of the following:

   0: listen server

   1: dedicated LAN server

   2: dedicated internet server

Try this.

./cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 1 +set fs_game mods/pezbot +set
sv_punkbuster 0 +set fs_homepath /var/games/cod4 +set net_ip
192.168.113.89 +set net_port 28960 +exec dedicated.cfg +map_rotate

And make sure your mod folder doesn't have a capitol M in the name.
Change it from Mods to mods and don't use quotes in the command line
around the path like you have been.

Hi

./cod4_lnxded +set dedicated 1 +set fs_homepath /var/games/cod4 +set
net_ip 192.168.113.89 +set net_port 28960 +set sv_punkbuster 0 +set
fs_game "Mods/pezbot" +exec dedicated.cfg +map_rotate

I don't set any of the above in the config file.

Post your entire start up string so we can see it. Also are you setting
this in your server config? If so don't. All the read only means is that
you can't change the variable on the fly like some of the others. Its
one that can only be selected at startup in the startup parameters.

Hi

I've set up a CoD4 server using the 06282008 release of the cod4 linux
server running on amd64 Ubuntu.

Everything seems to work except that "+set dedicated 1" specified on the
command line is ignored. The server always starts as internet dedicated
server.

I've tried to set dedicated in the console after starting the gate, but
it reports that dedicated is read only.

I see that there is an open bug regarding the issue: #3562

Will this feature be supported in future?

Thanks
