[cod] CoD4 DoS

They found a bug in the new killcam code which occurred once custom mods
were used.

You can read it here:
http://iamfourzerotwo.com/2008/04/21/status-report-on-pc-map-contest-and
-patch/

He also mentions "among other things" in this blog. Maybe they mean the
security issue, maybe not.

It's almost 3 weeks since this blog post was made.

Jim,

Although I can't find it right now, I seem to remember 402 saying that
it had cleared QA, however a "bug" was found and it was sent back to
development. The announcement came, I believe, from his blog. 1.6 may
not include a fix for the DOS, but why send it back if it has passed QA
unless they discovered something even worse?

He's been doing this work for a very long time, all the way back to the

As far as the 1.6 patch is concerned, it had cleared QA a while ago and
has been ready for release, so more then likely it DOES NOT contains
this fix. and no the release has not been held up because of this.....

Of course we can only assume this. But if you are on
bugtraq at securityfocus.com mailinglist, and seen other posts from Luigi,
you will see that the part which contains the "FIX" description
sometimes contains information about which version contains the FIX for
the bug. And how could they fix it if they weren't informed before ;)

How do we know he did not contact them and decided there taking too

long to

release a fix and simply trying to force their hand?

Not a wise move if that is his intent, but nonetheless it could be.

This is very sad. Luigi Auriemma always contacts the vendor about bugs
first, before he releases them into public.
I hope IW react on this very soon, otherwise I see scriptkiddies

ddosing

our servers very soon.

Which DoS?

Hi,

will there be a fix soon for the DoS discovered by Luigi Auriemma?

Cheers,

Marcel
