How do we know he did not contact them and decided there taking too long to
release a fix and simply trying to force their hand?

Not a wise move if that is his intent, but nonetheless it could be.

This is very sad. Luigi Auriemma always contacts the vendor about bugs
first, before he releases them into public. 
I hope IW react on this very soon, otherwise I see scriptkiddies ddosing
our servers very soon.
