[cod] COD4: 2 players with same guid (hack?)

Everyone gets a separate GUID, it is calculated from the CD key.

Every CD key has its own GUID, and therefore if two players have the same
GUID, they have the same CD key.

In COD2, punkbuster automatically kicks for this for around 2 minutes.

The entire banning system, on punkbuster and its partners such as
punksbusted, and pbbans ban via GUID. Imagine what chaos would be released
if two users have the same GUID, one of them gets banned, it means the
supposable innocent person who has identical GUID, Is also banned.

In effect, this also means that if you purchase a new game, you get a new
GUID. In the COD series, punkbuster doesn't issue hardware bans, and
therefore all players who have been banned via punkbuster, a new cd key will
lift it. Sites like Punksbusted also match and search IP addresses to find
other GUIDS on one IP address, however they do not ban for it.

I hope this makes sense, as I've just come online and have a doctors
appointment booked later... I'm feeling extremely sick and ill and therefore
may be speaking garbage to a few of you. However, this is how I understand
it, and all my theory works with PSB and PBBans etc.

Cheers

I do not believe this to be correct. My wife and I have separate CD keys
and play together all the time. both status and pb_sv_plist on my server
(which is not on our LAN) shows the same IP address with different GUIDs.
