[cod] What is the secret behind masterserver-list?

I actually kept playing with it trying to get better positions. I ended up with 28939 and 28940 for my 2 servers.

In this order.
I would stop the server.
change the port called in my startup script
change the router port redirect
restart the server
check the audit tool
if it didnt work i moved to the next port number in sequence. I started with 28930 thru 28940
I did this nonstop until i got excellent on one server and verygood on another.

I waited only as long as it took to restart the server and check the audit tool to see that the master server position changed.

I noticed my servers in close proximity to each other within 5 minutes of starting the servers again. They are even showing for me on the first refresh on the first page.

#UF#KILLSTREAK and #UF#WARZONE.

How long did you have to wait before they should up, was it instantaneous? Or did you wait awhile to fire up the server, or did the server just appear after awhile? I tried a new port, but admittedly I was impatient, and barely waited a minute before hitting the audit tool (and subsequently changing back to the default port).

Changing the sv_maxrate setting wouldn't affect a potential listing would it? I have mine set to 7500 normally, so as to not max out my connection with a potentially loaded server.

Wow. I just finished doing this and damn if it didn't work. I ended up setting my two servers ports to 28965 and 29999 and their in the top 2k now.

Think I said this earlier, but here it is again....

1. Change default port
2. Check Master server positioning using http://www.anarchic-x.com/cod4master/audit.php
3. If "Very Good" then you are done. If "Very Poor" start at step #1.

Put this in your server cfg:

set sv_master1 "cod4master.activision.com <http://cod4master.activision.com/> "
set sv_master2 "cod2authorize.activision.com <http://cod2authorize.activision.com/> "
set sv_master3 "cod2master.infinityward.com <http://cod2master.infinityward.com/> "
set sv_master3 "cod2update.activision.com <http://cod2update.activision.com/> "
set sv_master4 "master.gamespy.com:28960 <http://master.gamespy.com:28960/> "
set sv_master5 "master0.gamespy.com <http://master0.gamespy.com/> "
set sv_master6 "master1.gamespy.com <http://master1.gamespy.com/> "
set sv_master7 "clanservers.net <http://clanservers.net/> "
set sv_gamespy "1"
set sv_lan "0"

It's supposed to help :)

I experimented changing the port to different values and using the audit tool to check the position in the master server list.

What do you have to do to be listed on the serverlist ingame?

Our servers work fine trough the favorites list, but they do not show up in the public list.
