[cod] Odd Problem

Out of interest, would the layout in the cfg look like this

set sv_mapRotation1 "gametype dom map mp_maphere mp_maphere (and so on)
set sv_mapRotation2 "gametype dom map mp_maphere and so on.....

Would this then auto rotate rotation 1 then 2? or is there some other method?

Cheers

I have found that after about 20 maps in a single rotation command, and the server will start a re-direct loop, where the client downloads the same iwd over and over. I fixed it using a map rotation stacker, so that the each map string contains no more than 15 maps. (i.e. set sv_mapRotation1 "" set sv_mapRotation2 "" set sv_mapRotation3 "" etc.). cheerz. g8

Not sure if this has been resolved, but I have noticed that CoD4 has issues with the max number of maps to be defined in the map-rotate schema.

I downloaded a load of maps, just to test them an put them all in the map rotate of my test server, which just didn't start properly anymore.

When I came arround 30 maps (if I remember correctly)the server would start again.

An other thing which might cause the problem is you have downloaded a (T)DM map on which you like to play CTF or DOM, for which that map might not be suited...?

If you're sure the redirect is correctly setup and contains the same files as the server then it's probably one of the maps.
It's not so much an unsupported gametype, it's most likely an unclean iwd. Somehow cod doesn't really like map-.iwd's with a lot of junk in it.
Open the map-iwd's with winzip or winrar and check the contents. They should only contains an images and a sounds folder (not required). Toss anything else out and try again.
To make the search harder, the map that's looping in download is (probably) NOT a problem!!! It's the map that was running before it that's unclean!!
Problem is the UNloading of the junk, not the actual loading.

Hope that helps you find the problem.

Try to download map files directly within your web browser, if http cannot be reached that way, don't go further.

If it works, be sure to double check the map name (try to open the iwd part of the map, and see the right name in the mp folder), on the redirect space, on the game server, and in your config file.

You can also try the map without a mod (your're running in fs_game, but no mod.ff or iwd file is going to make any trouble with map scripts).

Can we have any indication on the base of your mod and the map that's blocking everything ? As Stuart has proposed, maybe the map is not compatible with the mod or gametype...

Yea all the redirect stuff is set up right.

             Everything works in that aspect.

The only issue is the server gets stuck and wont actually
Load the map - It will sit in a loop with a checkered
background for all clients trying to connect.

I am not sure how changing the map name will work?

Do have a http redirect setup? if so have you make sure both
the server and the redirect have the same files on ?

sounds like its missing a file off the a redirect or
             something if I remember right

                 Hey guys,

I run a series of servers and have come to an issue I
just cant seem to figure out.

First and foremost let me say this has all been working
                 fine until just recently.

We installed a Custom MOD and have been running some
custom Maps. Everything has been going fine until
recently I added a few more maps and adjusted the map
                 rotation.

Well this is no different or sounds no different then

what anyone else would do. However after about the 3^rd

map load give or take. The server gets stuck. It
constantly makes you try to download the map. Even if the
map has already been downloaded. You will get the little
checker box style load screen and the map will just
                 consistently try to load itself.

If any of you care to check it out the IP is

                 69.8.125.152:28940 <http://69.8.125.152:28940/>

You will see that map is stuck in rotation or something.

Now again you might say try removing the maps you put in.
Well - I already did that.. Still no dice.
Not really sure what to say in regards to this so I was
hoping some of you might have an idea.

                 Thanks

                 Sparker
