Donald,
Sorry I didn''t reply sooner, I was testing our COD4 server again, altough some would call it playing ;-)
Glad it works, and good to see you share the work.
Perhaps if I had done that too....

Is it possible for you to show an example of the edited bytes

You have to overwrite the marked bytes with hex 90, wich is simply NOPing out a far jump I suppose.

No go. I must not be doing this right. The hex patch isn't working after I applied it.
This is what Im doing.
Im editing cod4_lnxded-bin with Cygnus hex editor.
These are the values from the patch on buzilla
binary patch may help testing setStat on 1.5 during devs workaround .
Offsets: hexadec.
7D4D7: 0F =>90
7D4D8: 85 =>90
7D4D9: D1 =>90
7D4DA: 00 =>90
7D4DB: 00 =>90
7D4DC: 00 =>90
I open the file and go to address the first address and make the changes and save the file.

Am I not doing this correctly?
Am I supposed to do something with the =>90 at the ends of those lines?

I think I figured out the edit. If it works I'll host the file for download. Be a few minutes while we test it.

Since most mods are restricted from Linux servers at the moment, ((as far as I know AWE, ACE, eXtreme because of the Ranks)) this will be a valueable asset to the GSP's, Modders, and Community
Can't wait to try this or download it -- whichever comes first, and test it.

thx Michael

I'll give that a try. Im not familiar with editing with a hex editor.
Could you give me some guidance?
I downloaded a free version of XVI32. Do I search for the offset and
change the value?

Hi Donald,
No word yet, as far as I know at least.
But I tried the binary patch from
https://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3535 (last post), and it's
running great now.
Ranking AND custom-maps, thats how it was meant to be ;-)

this is the first thread that really tweaks my interest... first...
let me understand this... awe 1.2 is running persistent ranks with
custom maps? this is probably the most asked for addon of our
community right now... can sum1 address this issue... this would be a
huge break through for the cod4 community!! everyone loves the ranking
system (ease of choosing classes... etc...) but everyone also wants to
visit all the new maps coming out... is this an official bug (ie is
anyone looking into this issue?... ryan?)... ill shut up now...
cheers... g8
