I know your problem. You need to have maps for main and stuff i think like
in cod2 and not refer to the direct directory but to the directory before
it.

Hi Again..

This is getting worse <grin>

I have asked a friend to see if he can access/see my internal website and he
can see the files
..

I have uploaded the files to my hosting provider and I can see them, but
the game is still failing to pick up the maps

Saying the file "" could not be found

Right, another friend has come on line and he CAN get them from my hosting
company
.. YEAH

 its working
.. oh, but I still can't <sigh>

Just tried with my server and its downloading at full speed
. Well
 full
speed for 768k upload J

But I still can't access it from my game
. But that's not a big deal for me,
because I have the files anyway and can put them in the correct place

<relief at last>

Well, I thought
who cares if I can't download from my own server
. Lets
restart the game
.

And you probably guessed
I'm now downloading from the server
..

Oh wooooo is me
..

Well thanks for all your help and patience
.

A word of hard earned wisdom
.. restart the game completely if you're
having problems
and don't assume the #@%^"£$ game is working propaly <grin>

Thanks again everyone
.

If you need any help, don't hesitate to ask J

Regards

Steve

Ps. I thought I'd send this email now it looks like I'm working, others may
benefit from my err
 hard earned lesson.

Hi Guys..,

The router is getting hits from outside, I have even changed it to www and
tried different ports, 80 & 87 same result
.

Error message on server :-

The httpdownload of "" failed, falling back to server

thought I would do some more experimenting before I posted and things are
getting stranger
.

I have opened ports 80 to 89 in router and pointing them to 192.168.0.100

Now, I have 5 internal websites setup on virtual servers on my Debian
installation

http://192.168.0.100:81/ - brings up the correct internal website

as does
  82 – 83 – 84 – 87 – 89

but, this is the strange thing
.

When I http://82.38.162.xxx:81/ I get the website on port 83

When I http://82.38.162.xxx:82/ I get the website on port
  83

I have now put "usermaps" and "mods" on my virtual server port 83
.

And when I do
http://82.38.162.xxx:/83/usermaps/ I can see the maps

But COD4 won't and still reverts back to the server
.

Right, going to try test from my hosting companies server
.

If anyone can shed any light on this or has a spare 10 mins for an MSN chat
/ experimentation I would be extremely great full.

Many thanks for reading

Regards

Steve

can you enable logging on the router to see if a connection attempt is being
made (and to what port) ?

Hi Guys..,

I Still have a problem with ftp downloads....

The router is open on port 26 and redirects to 192.168.0.100
<http://192.168.0.100/> <the server>

On the Linux console it says something like... client connecting to
ftp:blablabla... connection failed... reverting back to server....
The COD4 loading screen looks like its pointing to the correct location....
it wasn't b4 and I received an error message...

I can FTP into the user account I have created for COD4 with no problems...
although it does take about 10 seconds to actually connect

The server.cfg is as follows:--

set sv_allowdownload "1"
seta sv_wwwDownload "1"
seta sv_wwwBaseURL "ftp://<username>:<password>@82.38.162.XXX:26/cod4"
seta sv_wwwDlDisconnected "0"

I have tested with my ftp client and it connects on port 26

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Steve
