Question about sv_gamespy and sv_master[n]

Hello,

 

I was wondering if these two server dvars actually do something in CoD2:

 

*	set sv_gamespy "1"
*	set sv_master1 "cod2master.activision.com"

 

Their purpose seems clear to me, but will it make a difference if you do not
use them? Aren't these settings hardcoded and activated when 'dedicated' is
set to '2'? I have been testing, and I can see any difference. Anyone has
ever looked into this?
