Robert,

I was having a problem with the same thing, only for HLDS/SRDS Update tool.
My 64-bit Debian system would not run the ./hldsupdatetool.bin or ./steam
and gave me the same error. Very weird you are having the same problem on
the same day
freaky. Anyways, the advice from deltaray and Marco fixed it
immediately:

apt-get install ia32-libs

Good luck!

Hello Marco and Deltaray,

Thanks for your kind reply’s. Unfortunately they didn’t leave me the root
password for the server so I have to wait for them to come online. I’ll post
again to this list if it solves the problem (or not).

Regards,

Robert

Hi Robert,

this error normally means, that the file isn't there or permissions are not
set correctly. I had problems starting a codServer on an amd64 debian
system, but I got this 'cannot execute binary file'.
Ok, try to install the IA32-libs for debian. 'apt-cache search ia32' and
install all those libs. Then try again...

I was about to answer the same :)

I installed AMD64 Version of Debian last week and ran into the same problem.
"apt-get install ia32-libs" did solve the problem for more :)

deltaray
