Selfmade Master Server ?

Hi,

maybe not the right group to post, but I try it anyways.
First question is, is it possible to run a custom master server for Call
of Duty 2?
If it is possible, where to get the binaries (or source code)? 
If not are there any allowed groups or companies who can run other
master servers for Call of Duty 2? 

Background of my questions is, there are some custom masterservers in
many sample configurations, and I want to know If I really need them.
