Guys stop arguïng. When there are no commercial hosters, there wouldn't
be enough gameservers, because not every clan has the financial power or
knowledge to host their own dedicated server. When the game takes to
many resources the prices of gameservers will go up and that will has
consequences to populairity of game. So gamehosters, be patient and try
to give the devellopers some rest. Ryan said that they are aware of the
issues and working on it. Other guys, give the gamehosters a break, they
just want to make a living by making the customers happy, and that's
only going to happen when it's effortable.

PEACE GUYS :)

"It seems to me that the only people that are still unhappy with build E
are
the people making money off hosting game servers. Too bad you cant fit
as
many servers on one box. These people don't owe you anything... You guys
buy
one copy of the game and make a sick amount of money off that one copy.
And
your still bitching?!"

That's bang out of line. It's customers that dictate pricing and savings
made from running multiple processes have to be passed straight onto
customers to remain competitive.

Perhaps it's different in the states where there seems to be a little
more
focus on customers renting dedicated machines, but here in Euroland the
vast
majority of servers are a process rented on a shared box, giving
customers
real cost savings.

With that in mind try explaining to a customer that their previous COD
server is going to cost 50% to 100% more if they want UO, or that they
can't
have it at all unless they rent a dedicated box - and even then there's
a
chance it'll run like a dog's dinner.

Well there is a BIG difference with core2 vs core 1. But those are the
only
builds I can say that I have tested. We are very happy with how our
server
runs, but yes the game does use to much cpu. But Gray Matter has already
posted that the patch will help with this issue.

I just hate to see people give bad advice like, you need more
horsepower!
patrick at fragzzhost.com seems to know very little if that's his only
answer.
Yes we can't run our 50 users server or 3-4 32 user servers on one box.
Give
it some time. At least they are looking into the problem and testing the
solution.

It seems to me that the only people that are still unhappy with build E
are
the people making money off hosting game servers. Too bad you cant fit
as
many servers on one box. These people don't owe you anything... You guys
buy
one copy of the game and make a sick amount of money off that one copy.
And
your still bitching?!

What about this IW and GM, why don't you make these guys pay for a
license
per server they rent?! That sound very fair to me!

I just don't see why people just don't rent a dedicated server or colo
their
own hardware. Then there would be no need for these so called game
server
hosting companies to stay in business. That's what 90% of these
companies
do, colo or rent dedicated boxes and resell them.

Just my $.02

TBH distros ( unless there is a major lib / kernel bug ) have little or
nothing
to do with it. COD:UO uses a huge amount of server CPU so much so we
only offer it as a dedicated machine. I've mailed the product manager
for
COD:UO about this issue but had no response so I assume they don't
really care as its out the door.
This is a huge shame but I do believe that there is some work being done
to
alleviate the issue for the next patch although I have no details so its
just
speculation really.

Developers seem to have less and less idea how much of an effect a bad
performing server has on their sales over the long period. Over the
initial
period its more to do with gameplay reviews / marketing but the real
view
is highly based on the availability of quality servers and they are
failing
to
see / admit this which is a real shame.
