[cod] udpb-cod admin bot. Some advice?

my response is a mild No.  You should run your call of duty server as a
nonroot user.  I'm sure you're familiar with the common *nix practice of
avoiding the use of the root user except when needed - if you weren't
familiar, you probably wouldn't have asked.  Honestly, I doubt the call of
duty server will ever harm your system.  But running your server as root
will require you to be constantly logged in as root, which is not a wise
practice.  Better safe than sorry :)

just chown (man chown for more details) your files to another user to avoid
having to set funky permissions and **make sure you change the appropriate
config files that include absolute paths** (i know udpbot has some in its
config, i dont recall if cod does..).

Have you tried posting this on udp viper's forum for udpb-cod?  They
answered most of my questions effectively, though on some occasions an
answer took quite a while... but I'm told patience is a virtue 8)
