Circumvention of the built-in server.cfg?

Hi,

since pak0.pk3 includes a server.cfg file, that filename cannot be used
for custom configuration. Is it possible to just remove that file from
the pk3 or would that result in "unpure client messages"?

(Yes, I am aware of the workaround of naming the configuration file
"codserver.cfg" or similar)
