[cod] AntiCheat?

On our server we simply watch, use the kill cam, and discuss what we see
using Ventrilo. The Team collectively determines if a player is cheating,
then we offer them one chance to turn it off or be banned. You do have to
be very careful though, because there are a lot of awfully good players out
there and we do not want to accuse anyone falsely, that's not whet we're about.
The most obvious are the high ratio players. The person that was 45/0 with
40 headshots was a good candidate. Particularly as this individual was
getting headshots from clear across the map without using a sight or scope!
Other things we look for is clues (visual and aural) that could have given
away a victim's position and for consistency of play (e.g. always nades the
same route and sometimes gets very lucky). In those cases we give the
player the benefit of the doubt. I guess, in a way we turn the frustration
into a secondary game of "Find the Cheater" and we have some fun with it.
If you're absolutely positive that you have a cheater then you can use
Ventrilo (or other team chat program) to coordinate massive retaliation
attacks against the cheater. Once we all changed to one team leaving the
cheater alone against 12 opponents, ha ha.
Bottom line, until Activision either gets PB or develops their own
anti-cheat, you simply have to learn how to separate the outstanding
players from the cheaters and have some fun with it.
