actually worked around the glibc-2.3 dependency by re-implementing the ctype

1.6 runs on, (ie. I don't want to have to upgrade 60 game servers come Monday

think it *needs* 2.3. its just what i happen to have on the machine i'm
building on (which was debian stable before i apt-got a new
