<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>We have the latest beta release from the website
running on a P4/2.0 gHz machine with 512 megs of RAM running Redhat
7.2.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Everything runs great with no crashes
whatsoever. However I have noticed some of the items in game are either
unusable or acting strangely on certain maps, while running Desert Combat.
Running straight BF1942 or the Road-to-Rome expansion pack, I have not noticed
any problems.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>For instance, on El Alamein, the AC-130 is
suspended about 6 feet off the ground in the allies spawn and when someone
spawns there, they drop through the floor to the ground and take some
damage. Players can jump into the plane and the guns are usable. If
someone hops into the pilot's seat, the engine revs up, but the plane acts as if
it's rooted to the ground in cement. One game someone destroyed the C-130
and when it reappeared, the plane was now suspended about 150 feet in the air
just between the opposition spawn and the southernmost flag.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>In Midway, on the opposition's carrier, the Mig29
is suspended about 2 feet off the ground and when power is applied to the
engines, the plane drops to the deck and acts as if it is going to slice into
the deck as you take off.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Also in Midway, the Hind-D helicopter will not take
off on first attempt, doing the same thing as described above for the
C-130. But if the player switches to another station and then back to
pilot, revs the engines up and then moves the controls left to right, the helo
acts as if a clamp has been released and will take off.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I have also experienced falling through the deck of
the carrier as an opposition player. I was playing as the support class
and someone trying to steal the Hind-D helo. I spawned by the conning
tower, dropped my mortar, hit the use key for the mortar and when I saw my
mortar shells were going over the top of the helo, I hit use again to run after
the guy and shoot him and I fell straight through the deck and into the
water. I was directly under the carrier, could see straight up through the
carrier, but could not hit the use key again to get out of the water. I
swam to the side of the carrier and once I reached the edge of the carrier, it
became a solid object again and I could no longer see through it, nor could I
swim back into it. I climbed the rope and got back on to the
carrier.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Other than a few of the airplanes "misbehaving" as
objects, the server is VERY smooth and seems to handle I/O very well. I've
had some reports of "lag", but everyone complains of that and I haven't seen
it. We are running a 24 man server and have gotten up to 20 players
without a problem.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I use 'screen' to startup BF1942 and during El
Alamein, the server is constantly outputting the following while
running:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>STREAM_DEBUG: Nan was for
acc:AC-130<BR>STREAM_WARNING: checkVec3ForNan<BR>STREAM_DEBUG:
mPositionalAcceleration nan corrected<BR>STREAM_WARNING:

<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>During "DC Battle of 73 Easting" the server outputs
this:</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>STREAM_DEBUG: Nan was for
acc:Mortar<BR>STREAM_WARNING: checkVec3ForNan</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>I'm running the Mar 17, 2003 version with
the following checksum (from 'cksum'):</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>2282038748 33918372 bf1942_lnxded<BR></DIV>
<DIV>If anyone knows of something they could suggest, I would appreciate
it. I did notice on startup, in the console, that there are some
complaints about certain .con files not existing, i.e. M1A1.con, etc. with
relative directory paths. I've also found all of my log files to be
empty.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>It's possible that the desertcombat 0.3n that I installed on the server has
a problem. I tar'd up the one from a PC installation and uploaded it to
the server, only because I could not find a version specifically tagged for
linux.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Any help would be appreciated. If you'd like to check out our server,
it's at 207.44.168.73:14567.</DIV>

<DIV>Thanks!</DIV>
