IMHO, if I were you I wouldn't even cater for the "non-legal" community. It's a matter of principle to me :)

If people don't buy games legally, they shouldn't expect *any* support from the LAN organisers :) And I'd make that very clear on websites/ rules etc. 
I'm in the process of setting up ( UT2K3) servers for a small LAN with 25 friends, but I'm only using official servers, official patches, official bonuspacks and I'm using bought software with legal keys to test and play on them. If players cant connect to these servers because they dont have legal copies of the game, it's their problem.
