Ben from EA said that the problem with release is that the current code is
laggy and is unsuitable for release. (I don't recall the exact wording.)
Apparently EA has some kind of network testing available that's not
available to DICE, or DICE hasn't integrated it into their build system so
that that can be checked before releasing code to EA.
One common hubris among programmers or any creative developer is the
assumption that this will be the "final final" release and there will be no
more patches, that the current release is golden. DICE should assume that
won't be the case for some time and begin integrating regression testing
into their process so that this doesn't happen in the future, so that they
can test for things like overly-laggy code before giving it to EA.
