Then you should think about a remote installation method :)

yer but by doing that you break the compatibility with the current version
of glibc, and id rather not have to go down to redbus to reinstall a server
just because zlib broke it :/

Just download the sources and do a ./configure; make; make install. It
overwrites the existing 1.2.2 RPM Version. It’s not the best solution, but
you can reinstall your server later when you want ;)

Quite hard to do id imagine as the new versions on zlib require new versions
og glibc, then you hit a load of dependancy problems, especially on redhat
variants.

which of course poses the question could they supply a version as part of
the pack?

Hi,

Just to make it sure:

I installed a self compiled zlib 1.2.2 and server crashed. No difference
between the old one.

It actually helped out a lot! I got out a callstack on the client when it
crashed!

The clients receive weird end of round data that they can’t really cope
with, I’ll investigate it further to see why.

The trouble is that the client can’t seem do unzip the data it has received.
Maybe it has something to do with the zlib-version you have installed on the
server? I’m using 1.2.2 here, are you using something else on the troubled
servers?

P.S Nigel, I’ll let you kill me another time instead! :-) D.S

:(

i ran ethereal on my client side and ran the game, nothing looks odd except
right before the crash (time wise) theres a tcp connection reset .. maybe 1
of the master servers, ill try again when i figure out how to get the
logging working.

I've heard a rumor about removing the "players" setting from the lines in
the maplist fixes this. Is that true? I don't see any mention of it here,
I'm about to test it. Will let ya know.
