HT CPU's, any benefit to BF2?

If I remember correctly it was either BF42 or BFV that ran worse on an smp
linux kernel than a non smp kernel.  Does this still hold true for BF2?
Would there be any benefit to once again running my smp kernel?  I am
currently running kernel version:  2.4.20-31.9, I'd like to see a boost in
performance with the 2.4.20-31.9smp kernel.
 
PS - I don't know a lot about kernels, I just remember selecting a different
one to run on bootup.  :)
