This is bad news for us as well ... I am the owner of
http://www.21stcenturywarfare.com <http://www.21stcenturywarfare.com/> an
online tournament of over 2,000+ users who were planning on moving too BF2.
We will only run our servers on linux. I guess this is more of a reason to
stay with DesertCombat and not make the move til there is a linux ver.

Thanks,

Tim aka ... Crrrazzzy

Sean Decker (BF2's producer) explicitly said it was OK to share this
information with you, so I am. He is the one calling the shots on
large-scale planning in the project.

I'm sad to say that my managers have assigned me to other areas over the
course of this project and I will most likely not get the time I would need
to bring you a high quality Linux server at ship time.

I really wanted to make this product launch with excellent Linux support
from the start, but it's not my call.

Andreas, You have been nothing bet the best to us so for ;). It is
unfortunate that there wont be a Linux server out on retail, It will halt me
and my community (200+) from buying the game until there is. I was planning
on putting 5 or 6 servers up for this on retail, but I guess we will have to
wait until after retail. We wont play, at least put any time into playing,
unless its on our servers. We know we get the best playing experience
because we are the admins ;)

I have also had numerous customers asking if we will carry bf2 on release,
and now must send at least 25% of my paying customers to someone who WILL
have servers on release. This is not just bad for me as a gamer, it will
severely impact my business. How many other GSP's will have lost customers
within the months following the release of BF2, and how many will that piss
off to the point of not supporting it after it gets released. I know after
hearing this news, I will be down over $1200 USD a month, that doesnt make
me happy.
