He, for me it would be a big deal... Count me in with those, who will have
trouble with this... ;)

If you have a look at the bf1942-forums, you'll see many users which are
pretty new to linux (as I am) and we don't have a clue on how to update
these... ;)

BTW: Tried to run it on RH 7.2 and failed...

It’s not THAT big of a deal, as we’re used to upgrading kernels and whatnot
for andreas :)
However, it would be nice to see v1.0 run on the same platforms bf1942 1.6
runs on, (ie. I don’t want to have to upgrade 60 game servers come Monday
morning ;)
So if making a set of binaries not using a later glibc is doable, that might
be preferred. A LOT of people will have trouble with this, im sure.

Wow, this needs Glibc 2.3? Anyone running debian, I believe you will need to
go to unstable for this.

hmmm... i don't think it *needs* 2.3. its just what i happen to have on the
machine i'm building on (which was debian stable before i apt-got a new
compiler).

if this is a problem i can try to weed out the dynamic dependency and make
static more static
