Nah, load average is a measurement of how much 'load' (how stuff it's
got to do) is being dumped on the server..  The higher the load, the more
likely you are to see things such as cpu lag..  It's in the first line of
top:

15:45:30 up 80 days,  3:35,  7 users,  load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
