I start my servers with >/dev/null &
The jerky motion is there using that or screen. Some maps seem much
worse than others with around the same number of players though.

Didn't notice any performance increase on my server either.

That seemingly made it worse for my server. I still have the problems I
did when I originally made the server..

Subject: [bf1942] Jerky lag on linux servers
Tonight we had a practice match, and decided to play on my linux server
(1ghz, 512mb ram etc), im running the server in a "screen" window, maybe
that matters. (attached and detached was the same)
It was very weird, we all had pings in the 40'ies, server cpu usage was
at
33%, and ram usage was at 27%, but everyone had extreme jerkyness and
lag,
the problem appeared right around when the 16'th player joined, and the
fighting heated up. I noticed that the server console is being extremely
spammed when there is fighting going on, so i tried starting the server
with "./bf1942_lnxded >/dev/null" where i direct the console output to
the
void.. and it helped immensly.
Hope this will help others
Cream
