Just curious, but how did you come to the conclusion that the game is not
running?

Maybe you could pate in your ServerSettings.con. If you do not want to do
that then make sure you have game.serverInternet 1 for public internet games
and game.setServerIP set to the IP address for your server. If you are
behind NAT you need to set that to your private IP address.

Subject: [bf1942] HELP!

First off - hi everyone. I've only just joined this mailing list, so
apalogies in advance if I commit any 'messaging sins'. Okay - here's my
problem: I have downloaded and untarred the necessary files (the current
beta 1.3 file and an update file), and set them up in a dir on my linux
server of /home/bf1942. I edited the ServerSettings.con. ServerAutoexec.con
and maplist.con files, then went back to the main bf1942 dir. I started it
up by trying 2 methods. Firstly, I typed in nice -19 ./bf1942_lnxded, and
then I tried it by just typing ./bf1942_lnxded and was then presented with a
screen full of STREAM ERRORS. I gather that this is deliberate with the beta
server file (for error gathering and correction by the developers), but my
server does not seem to be running at all. I did notice that a couple of
errors said something about Error Objects and Error Animations...not sure
what that means. Anyway, I am having a VERY bad day trying to figure this
out. I currently run a couple of CS games on my server with no hassle, and
have also run things like Wolfenstein, Quake and other multiplayer games
with no hassle what so ever. Is there come kind (>>insert image of me down
on hands and knees, begging..>>) person out there that can help me get to
grips with this, please? Yes, I have used a variety of sites in my search
for a solution, but so far I'm failing each time.

Thanks in advance for any help received.

Jay.
