[bf1942] Linux server status update 2003-04-28

It would probably have helped if you'd read the status update that
Andreas sent out which clearly states that it will, in fact, be
logging detailed and verbose (and compressed, even) XML.

I'm not sure how the compression will affect the chunks of data as
they're flushed to disk/pipe, but we'll see, I guess.
