[bf1942] Server performance

Anton,

Thanks for your feedback.

I already reduced the play time to 20 minutes. Any idea what a good time
is? I think 20 minutes is a nice time to play a map. I changed the
rounds to 3, so you still play an hour the same map (like the default).
Or may be 15 minutes/3 rounds is better?

Do you have any estimates what a good number of players is, that can be
supported on the Linux server? Considering this P4 1.8GHz is dedicated
to this game.
I hope DICE releases a new test version soon.

Roland

Yes, it is :-(

Yes, pipe the output to /dev/null so start the BF server as follows :

nohup ./bf1942_lnxded > /dev/null 2>&1 &

Probarly they will not, there is no way to disable them, you can only
get
rid of them.

What seems to work is bringing down the total number of players and
restrict the time being played on the map. However, these are only minor

tweaks, the real problem lies in the server code, which DICE is fixing
as
we speak. So be patienced and wait for a new release to solve some of
these problems.

Kind regards,
