I was hoping for the iPad version source code to be released around Christmas so that I may poke at it, but that didn't happen, so I'll throw this out there. How about a version for the HP TouchPad? From what I've heard, it may take as little as five hours to port an iOS app to webOS. The SDK and toolchain is free, and I've managed to get it to compile from the original source by changing some things in the CMake build system using files from another project. Of course, it won't run because a whole bunch of things have to be changed, including manipulating calls for OpenGL into OpenGL ES. But that would already have been done for iOS, so all that's really left is to modify the app to take advantage of webOS' APIs. Considering that the HP TouchPad has a 1.2 GHz processor compared to the iPad's 1 GHz processor, performance shouldn't't be an issue either. In addition, there could be public beta testing because of Preware. A lot of people probably have it because of how easy it is install, and this could be used as a channel to perfect things before sending it off to the App Catalog.

Despite how people say the TouchPad is dead, the fire sales have put it in many people's hands, and webOS is still a pretty good platform for games. The more well known games and apps in their catalog, the merrier.

P. S. One other idea I'll throw out there: How about a separate demo and full version on release? The demo version would then be able to pull full version game files from user storage, and save people paying for the same game multiple times on multiple platforms. Then again, if the source code is released promptly, people could just compile their own version if they don't want to pay again. It's relatively easy to install custom apps on webOS anyway.

-- Sent from my HP TouchPad
